Anna Russian Heirloom seed handed down to an Oregon woman from several generations of her family, along with the story that it came from a Russian immigrant. Black Prince Originally introduced from Irkutsk, Russia and is regarded as a "true Siberian tomato" that does very well in cooler climates. Until only recently this was considered a rare variety in the United States. However, its popularity has grown so much in Russia that there is now a company in Volograd that is producing an extract of the Black Prince called "Black Prince Tomato Oil." These deep garnet round, 2-inch (2-3 oz.) tomatoes are full of juice and incredibly rich fruity flavors. This is a tomato that chefs rave about for it's rich flavors. Brandywine Sudduths Strain Brandywine first appeared in the 1889 catalog of Johnson & Stokes of Philadelphia and by 1902 was also offered by four additional seed companies, but soon disappeared from all commercial catalogs. Ceylon A tomato like you've probably never seen before, these small, ruffled red fruit are unique in appearance, but distinctive in flavor also. Cherokee Purple Very productive plants bear loads of 10 to 12 oz. dusky rose/purple fruit with deep brick red interiors. The tomatoes are absolutely delicious with a pleasantly sweet and rich flavor. The flavor of the beautiful rose-pink fruits is simply delightful. Chianti Rose is exceptionally productive and is capable of withstanding disease and bad weather while pumping out tomato after tomato.

Chile Verde A far-out and really cool tomato developed by Tom Wagner, who also bred the ‘Green Zebra’ and many other great varieties. This one is especially fascinating, with its amazing, pointed pepper shape and the mellow green skin, nearly like a green chili. The flavor is also good, strong and earthy, perfect for canning or for making green ketchup! This is one of the few green paste tomatoes and, like most paste types, this one has few seeds.  Makes a spectacular apple-green juice that can be spiced to taste. 80 days

Chocolate Cherry As irresistible as a chocolate covered cherry, but without all of the guilt. Golden Queen USDA Strain Distinctly different from other Golden Queens commonly sold, this is from a strain obtained from the USDA seed bank, and is the original Golden Queen described by the seedsman Livingston in 1882. Marianna’s Peace  This large, potato-leaved dark pink tomato is fast becoming a favorite of gardeners across the country. Mortgage Lifter This has been a popular variety since it was developed in the 1930s. The legend of this tomato is that it was developed by M. C. Byles of Logan, West Virginia. For six years he crossed German Johnson, Beefsteak, English and Italian varieties, selecting the largest specimens. It is said that he then sold plants for $1.00 each and paid off his mortgage in six years. The fruits are large, pink, over a pound each and one of the best beefsteak flavors available. 85 days.

Moskvich  Introduced in 1991 from eastern Siberia.  'Moskvich' is a highly productive, extra-early variety with excellent vigor and hardiness. The red, globe-shaped fruits are uniform, and have a flavorful, smooth-textured flesh. Fruits weight an average of 5-6 oz.  60 days

Mountain Gold VFF  Expect large harvests of these beautiful, 8 to 12 oz., smooth, round golden-yellow fruit. New Big Dwarf It was released it in their 1915 seed annual with the following words, "Isbell's New Big Dwarf is so distinct and so meritorious that we are proud to offer it to tomato lovers of America and the world.  We earnestly hope everyone who receives our catalogue will plant this grand new sort in 1915."  The large (one pound), delicious fruits develop on dwarf; short, bushy plants.  Compact plants only become about 2 ft. tall yet produce a very early harvest of flavorful deep pink tomatoes that grow up to 1 pound, but are more typically 8 to 12 ozs. Nineveh  A very acid, almost sour-tasting tomato that is best for cooking

Old German Beautiful, very large yellow fruit are streaked and mottled with crimson red, the flavor is luscious and rich. Opalka  An heirloom originally from Poland. One of the best tasting paste tomatoes with 5-inch long fruit shaped like a banana pepper with a pronounced tip on the bottom. Pantano Romanesco Rare Roman heirloom tomato reported grown in former marshes in Rome, Italy. Similar to Genovese Costoluto. Paul Robison This favorite tomato was named after the operatic artist who won acclaim as an advocate of equal rights for Blacks. His artistry was admired worldwide, especially in the Soviet Union. This "black" beefsteak tomato is slightly flattened, round, and grows to 4-inches. Its deep, rich colors stand it apart from others…a dusky, dark-red, with dark-green shoulders, and red flesh in its center. Very flavorful fruits with luscious, earthy, exotic flavors and good acid/sweet balance. Peach Blow Sutton  Introduced in 1897 by Sutton & Sons Seed Growers in England.  The fruit have that odd coloration of pink, peach and red. They also have an even stranger slightly sticky, fuzzy skin. They resemble nectarines, both in "fuzziness" and size. They are considered an indeterminate tomato. "Peach Blow" refers to the name of a fancy Victorian blown glass known for its gorgeous variation of red flowing to peach pink color on the edges. It is a rare and expensive process of glassmaking and was usually reserved for "bride's baskets," fancy glass bowls set in silver holders, a popular wedding gift at the turn of the century.  You will love this rare tomato from the past, both for its uniqueness and its history. 80 days

Principe Borghese Italian heirloom tomato. Short determinate plants that prolifically yield big clusters of 1-2 oz. red, plum shaped, crack-resistant paste tomatoes that are a great substitute for Roma tomatoes. Red Fig Plant produces heavy yields of 1 ½" pear shaped red tomatoes. Excellent in salads and eating fresh. In the past it was used as a substitute for figs by gardeners. Reisetomate  The most novel tomato we have seen, this tomato is like a big bunch of cherry tomatoes all fused together: an amazing trait that had everyone here asking questions about the alien-looking, bumpy tomatoes. Also called “Traveler tomato” (“reise” is German for “travel” or “journey”) for the ability to tear it apart a piece at a time, with no need for a knife. This type of tomato traces its roots to Central America where the native people would carry traveler tomatoes on trips, to eat as they walked. Bright red tomatoes taste--well, rather sour, strong and acid. The perfect tomato for those who love raw lemons, but who cares? They are still far-out and groovy. 80-85 days            

Riesentraube European heirloom variety grown by Pennsylvania Dutch as early as 1856. Name translates as "giant bunches of grapes." Produces tasty fruits in clusters of 20-40 and each distinctly pointed. To say that this variety is productive is an understatement. Round 1" fruit has a distinct nipple on the blossom end. Roma One of the most popular varieties for paste, sauces and canning. Compact vines yield large harvests of 3 inch long, bright red fruit that may be pear-shaped or plum-shaped. Thick walled and solid with few seeds; slightly later than Roma with heavier foliage. Determinate. 78 days.

Rose de Berne A lovely name describes this very beautiful dark pink tomato that is shaped like a perfect globe, smooth and round with no blemishes. Fruits are medium size, 6 to 8 ozs., and boast flavor that is as impressive as its pretty appearance. San Marzano 3  A highly prized Italian heirloom tomato for its fruit with firm pulp and thick skin, used in the concentrate industry as well as for canning 'peeled' tomatoes. Sara’s Galapagos  Heirloom plant conservationist Amy Goldman found this unusual, currant-type Tomato growing wild in the Galapagos Islands and named it for her daughter. The dark red, cherry-size fruits of 'Sara's Galapagos' have a high sugar content and grow in large clusters on 6ft-tall plants with light green leaves that resemble both Potato and regular leaf shapes. Sunsets Red Horizon This outstanding heirloom, named by tomato grower, Gary Ibsen, for Sunset magazine in 2003, is a native to Southern Russia. Huge, red, 4 to 6-inch, meaty, heart-shaped fruits are borne from a big leafy plant with wispy vines. Introduced to the west by Nik Peplenov who immigrated to the US in 1999 and brought with him his favorite heirloom seeds from the Rostov Don region of Russia.
