CONSULTATIONS Mary is available year round to discuss possibilities for your yard and garden makeover. Bring in a picture of the area you wish to change and she can give you several ideas of what can make the area more what you wish it to be. You can then decide if this is something you wish to do yourself or you need help in accomplishing the makeover. However, before you come in for a consultation, you should ask yourself (and answer) questions about your yard/garden. 1. What is the end goal of the makeover: improve the value of your home; add beauty; block views; attract wildlife; design a garden room for relaxation etc? Do you need areas for entertaining, utility, vegetable gardens, play areas for children. You need to be able to state how/why areas are going to be used. 2. Define your personal style as well as the style of the house: casual, relaxed, informal, formal, western, mountain look. 3. Determine how much effort and time you are willing to devote to your new space. Do you enjoy gardening or do you want a low maintenance area the requires very little care? 4. Define the views you wish to preserve from inside the house. 5. Determine the problem areas such as wind direction, orientation of the house, soil type, changes in elevation, and drainage problems. 6.. Determine your budget. If you want the work accomplished in phases, make the decision of which area will give you the most satisfaction to complete. 7 Before you start any work, you need to mark your existing sprinkler system (or if you want to change it, have this done first), define utility locations and determine if there are restrictions on your property as defined by your H.O.A., county or city zoning laws. 8.
